--------Ⅰ. Chinese ancient music
--------Huang Emperor was the longest emperor in Chinese history, he invented calendar and characters 5,000 years ago. At that time, a musician named Fuxi lived besides forementioned Linglun. It is said that Fuxi's body looked like snake and he was gestated in the his mother's embryo about 12 years. His spiccato musical instrument had 50 strings, but because of too sad tone, Huang Emperor cut his instrument into halves and changed into 25 strings.

--------There still was a musician named Shen Nong among the Huang Emperor's time's legends. It is said his head was like ox and his body was like snake. He has ever taught peasants cultivate corn and tasted hundreds of kinds of grass and made 5 strings Qin.So we can in the nature of things assume that temporal music was five musical scale.

--------In the ancinet China, the books connected with music was above 300 kinds.Cofucius was famous educator in tne Spring and Autumn period, at the same time,he was also a musician. He has ever wrote some essaies about music and we can find some commentarys in the Analects. Confuciucian ancient musical instrument's accomplishment was very high.He could melodize himself and put sadness and happiness into rhyme of Qin. He taught Qin his disciples and 72 disciples were good at Liuyi among them. The contents which he taught were intituled poem and book and rite and music.In his philosophy, music was the same position with virtue.

--------Ⅱ. Ancient music of Egypt and Arab
Ancient Egyptian civilization is one of the most ancient civilization. From the sculptures of the pyramid's inner wall, we can find music excutants in range and image music's pomp. In the sculptures there are stringed instrument like harp and all kinds of other instrument like flute.Arab and so on areas there were advanced musics, they began to use the musical scale which one eight degree was divided into seventeen musical scales.

-------Ⅲ. Music of ancient Greece and ancient Roman
--------Grecian music's origin also vestured a flat of mystic hue.In the legend Apollo charged music, under his lead there were 9 Muse goddesses, so music also called music or musik. In Grecian musical instruments there was a kind of v shaped double pipe flute,besides there was a Qin named Lyra and Kithara was a kind of stringed instrument like guitar. In Grecian living the music was very prominent. They based the orient music which went round from Egypt and Arab and gradually developed and finally came into being their own music.Grecian music tightly connected with poem and drama.

--------Grecian music had great accomplishments in many ways. In 6th century BC, Grecian philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras first explained theory of swing, using one -stringed instrument named monochord, then he worked out all the tones according to the string's length. The invention and application Pythagoras's swing was a graet breakthrough in music theory. Grecian invented a way which wrote the musical book in character.In musical instrument's execution there were many reforms and creations and invented many musical instruments which never had before. In Grecian musics not only there were solo lyrical songs accopanying with instrument music but also there were drama music and dance music and so on.

--------Ancient Roman music mainly follow Grecian music's grand accomplishments.At that time, music was mainly performanced in the rites and wedding banquet and troop's triumph. From 3rd century AD, Roman had wantonly expanded its force and had savagely invaded and depredated neighboring polises. Many Grecian excellent musicians and singers became Roman monarchs and nobles and slaver's vassals. So music also was the gerentocratic tool which they made recreation and relaxation. Some folk ballads and wedding songs and soldier's songs and musical dances was developed.With the music development, ancient drama which sung in Latin appeared.Besides brass winds's appearance was also one of main characters of ancient Roman music.
