Chapter 5 Music of the Revival of Learning and before

From the end of 11st century to the end of 13rd century, The crusade happened in Europe.It promoted cultural communion between the west and the orient. In music it represented that many singers and poets appeared. The musical instrument which they used was the similar to modern harp. Their songs related to ballad and epics other stories containing religious and moral content.

From middle an late 13rd century to 14th century, The art of Girnt style sprung up unconsciously especially in architecture.It became the form of standing for an era, but in multiple tune came of Organum it appeared definitely. In 13rd century's motet, there were dance and love song 's tune besides solemn cantus firmus of Gregorian Chant.

In the latter half of the 14th century, European social ideology had deeply taken place.Some advanced thoughts brewed and spreaded abroad.The most representational was humanism among them. Humanism thought human was root and dominated society and was not the God. It resounded human's love to life and wisdom and believed hominine power can conquer anything.It advocated human nature and opposed mediaeval asceticism. Revival of Learning which referred to politics and culture etc in Europe under humanism's effect. Folk music took on more and more important position among temporal musics. Cornet and trumpet and trombone and pipe organ and other musical instruments were up and doing on musical stage. In late Revival of Learning, violin and ancient piano further added dazzling gloss.
